Titirangi Folk Club - September Guest Spot

Last year I played at West Auckland Acoustic Music Festival. Well, the Titirangi Folk Club has invited me back to be one of their featured songwriters. This is a night where the first half are floor singers (usually a pretty good bunch) and the second half is a 45 minute set from me, totally acoustic. I’ll be playing old and new songs, and for anyone who hasn’t heard my stuff, they will all be new songs.

This is also the debut performance of my new Guitar - Patience - which I built earlier this year with help from Trevor at Binford Luthiery.

All of the info is on this facebook page, but it’s at the Titirangi Beach Hall and Tickets are $10 on the door (or $7 for Folk Club Members)

Bunker Hill Unplugged

Every couple of years I get the privilege to play at The Bunker, and that time has come again. It’s the place that has ruined me for playing anywhere else like a bar of a cafe, because in those places people aren’t listening. At The Bunker, the audience is attentive, and the music is completely unplugged. You could reach out and touch the artists, but please dont.

The Bunker is honestly my favourite place to play, and I’ll never pass up an opportunity to play there. They are super passionate about music and about supporting the artists. I’ll be joined this time around by my good friend Bryce Patten, silky of voice and metal of hair. And one of the best singers and performers in New Zealand, Caitlin Smith. There’s a fourth person, but I don’t know who they are yet.

$10 *CASH* on the door. devonportfolkmusic.co.nz

Note for the MAP - if you click and zoom right into Mt Victoria, a pointer for The Bunker comes up. If you switch to Satellite, it’s actually the concrete building half covered by the hill around 30meters East of the pointer.

I’ve been invited to play at WAAMfest (held by the Titirangi Folk Music Club). I’ll be performing a half hour set on Saturday between 1:30pm and 2:30pm, and then be talking about songwriting on a panel from 1:00pm on Sunday.

Tickets are $40 on the gate for a day, but there are plenty of other talented acts to see besides me. All info can be found here.

Come along and support the Kiwi Folk Scene!
